Frequently Asked Questions

1. What is Gclef.TV?
It's a website for creating or posting original music for all to see.  Including, music videos, recording yourself performing a song, or broadcasting live music where the audience can clap and you will actually hear the applause!

2. Do I need to create an account with your website to enjoy it?
No, you don't need to create an account to browse music videos, songs, or watch a live broadcast.  You do need to create an account if you want to post or broadcast music yourself.

3. How do I create an account on your website?
If you have an account on Facebook, then you are already signed up.  Simply click on the "Connect With Facebook" button on the "Login" page and you are set to go.  If you do not have a Facebook account, you can create a Gclef.TV account instead by going to the "Sign Up" page and filling out the form.  If you have an account with ComedyWarehouse.TV, you don't need to create a new account, you're already signed up... just log in!

4. What equipment do I need on my computer to add content to your site?
To record a song or broadcast a live music stream, you need a camera and the Adobe Flash Player plugin for your browser.  The camera can be a simply webcam or a more professional digital camera/video production equipment.  It's up to you.  We don't expect our content to be professionally produced.  All are welcome!  Uploading a music video doesn't require any additional equipment.

5. How does the Adobe Flash Player stream the video?
Adobe Flash Player will, in most cases, detect your camera and push your video stream to our servers.  If you have more than one camera attached to your computer, you can click "Settings" on the broadcast player and select the camera you want to use from the list of cameras.  You can only broadcast on one camera at a time.  Additionally, you can use the same settings control to select your microphone or adjust your sound levels.  Sometimes it takes some playing around with your equipment and settings to get the results you are looking for.

6. Will video stream from my computer without me knowing about it?
No.  When broadcasting or recording from your camera, our site clearly tells you that you are broadcasting live.  You control when the broadcast starts and stops.  Additionally, you must grant permission to the Adobe Flash Player to use your camera.  You will see the prompt before you start broadcasting and must click "Allow" before you can continue.

7.  How can I interact with my audience?
If you are broadcasting live music, your audience can clap and you can hear the applause.  The audience claps by clicking the "clap button" on their screen.  The harder they want to clap, the faster they click the button.  You will hear "canned" applause.  The harder they clap, the more intense the applause track will be.  This will give you audience feedback that will (hopefully) drive your show.

You can also chat live with your audience during your broadcast with the chat window conveniently located next to your video window.  The audience can subscribe to your broadcast and the next time you schedule your show (using the scheduling tool on the broadcast page), you can send email notifications to your subscribers.

Other feedback can be collected from your audience on live, recorded, or uploaded content by comments, ratings, and sharing.  For those using Facebook as their account, you can post content to your wall, invite friends to view content, or post news feeds about your content.

8.  How do I upload a music video or create a live sample for my broadcast?
Click on the "Upload a Video" link and follow the instructions to upload a video.  You can upload .mov, .asf., .wmv, .avi, or .mpg video file not larger than 100 megabytes.

During your live broadcast, click on the "Record Sample" button and a sample of up to 4 minutes will be recorded without interrupting your broadcast.  The sample will be saved as a song and will be available to watch by viewers browsing your stream listing.

9. How do I record a song?
Go to the "Record a Song" link and follow the instructions on the screen.  You can record your song as many times as you want until you are satisfied with the recording.  Once you are satisfied, you can save your recording for all to see.
